15-year-old Mikael Eid died from fireworks on New Year’s Eve in Södertälje: “Unbelievable”

Many have gathered to show their grief after the tragic event on New Year’s Eve where Mikael Eid and his family had gone from Norsborg to celebrate the new year in Lina Hage in Södertälje – and Mikael’s 15th birthday.

Several hundred people have visited the memorial services that were held on Sunday and Monday at Mikael’s school, Brunnaskolan. His classmates, teammates from football, teachers, principal, family and friends of the family. And the school plans to hold a commemoration when the semester starts.

– I am so incredibly happy and grateful for the turnout and support we received from the municipality, school, family, relatives, friends. In a terribly difficult moment like this, it helps a lot, says Mikael’s uncle and godfather Christian Matloob.

Hope for a ban

According to information to The Express was it a homemade rocket that hit the 15-year-old. The purpose of the family appearing for interviews is to raise public opinion on the issue of a total ban on fireworks for personal use.

– I hope that Mikael’s death can lead to something positive in the end, no matter how terrible it is today.
