A 15-year-old boy has been arrested for the murder in Hammarby sjöstad last Friday evening when another 15-year-old boy was stabbed to death.

The detained 15-year-old is suspected on probable cause for the murder in Lumaparken in Hammarby sjöstad in southern Stockholm.

According to prosecutor Rolla Akkache, the police have come a long way in the investigation and she sees the evidence against the 15-year-old as good.

Do you suspect that several people are involved in the murder?

– No, we don’t, says Rolla Akkache.

It was around 11pm on Friday that the police were called to Lumaparken in Hammarby sjöstad. According to the police, the boy received several stab wounds.

He received first aid from private individuals before the ambulance arrived and could take him to hospital.

On Saturday, the police announced that the boy died from his injuries.

A memorial site was formed in Luma in Hammarby sjöstad and more than 50 young people gathered at the site on Saturday to mourn and honor the memory of a friend.

– Everyone here knew him. He was damn good at things he took up, managed the school and everyone liked him, says the friend of the family.

The memorial site was removed

Young people flocked to the memorial late into the night on Saturday and by Sunday the semi-circle of flowers had grown and expanded with candles and handwritten notes with hearts and greetings.

But when residents of Hammarby sjöstad woke up on Tuesday morning, the memorial site for the 15-year-old had been removed. Cleared by the City of Stockholm.

– I was sad, and the children are very sad. Last night everything was in place but now they have cleaned during the night. It has only been a few days and the memorial site is very important for the children, that they have somewhere to go and mourn, says a friend of the family who wishes to remain anonymous.

The person says that young people had collected money with which they bought various items that they thought would strengthen the memory of the 15-year-old, and put it on the memorial site before it was cleaned away.

– It’s an important part of grief work, it just can’t happen like this, says the friend.

The city of Stockholm apologized later in the day and has now put back the flowers that could be saved, even though some items that were at the site were destroyed.

“Hammarby sjöstad has changed”

Parents with children at schools in Hammarby sjöstad have told Aftonbladet that the schools previously sent out information that it has become more common among young people to carry weapons, that drugs are used more openly in the district and where people are encouraged to walk at night.

According to the local police Mulle, it is nothing unique to Hammarby sjöstad.

– Weapons and narcotics as well as alcohol or other drugs are present in all primary schools in all districts. The supply is there all the time and through my years I’ve probably written drug reports at every primary school where I’ve worked. Today, you can order anything illegally and have it delivered immediately, he says.

According to the friend of the 15-year-old’s family, Hammarby sjöstad has changed in recent years and that the person feels that drug sales have become more common in the area.
