Five people have been requested to be detained for being labeled a terrorist crime. One of them is a 15-year-old boy.

During Good Friday, the Eskilstuna District Court holds custody hearings in the case.

The five people were arrested on Tuesday morning in a coordinated operation by the police’s national task force in Eskilstuna, Linköping and Strängnäs. According to Säpo, the crackdown went smoothly.

It concerns a 15-year-old boy and four men between the ages of 23 and 29, according to the prosecutor’s arrest warrants.

Susanna Trehörning, deputy unit head for counter-terrorism at Säpo, stated in connection with the arrest that the assessment was that the five have connections to the terrorist organization IS, but that an attack was not immediately imminent.

– We assess that there are international connections, specifically the terrorist organization IS, said Trehörning.

Several of the persons’ defenders have announced that the suspects deny any crime.

According to Säpo, the current case is one of several that were worked on after the far-right politician Rasmus Paludan’s high-profile Koran burning outside the Turkish embassy in January.
