Five people have been arrested on suspicion of an IS-related terrorist crime.
According to Aftonbladet’s information, one of them is a 15-year-old boy.
The boy has been known to the police for several years.
On Tuesday morning, five people were arrested during a coordinated operation in Strängnäs, Linköping and Eskilstuna.
All have now been arrested on suspicion of being labeled a terrorist crime in Sweden.
The planned crime can be linked to the terrorist organization IS and was prompted by the protests against Sweden after Rasmus Paludan’s Koran burning on January 21, according to Säpo.
Among those arrested is a 15-year-old boy, according to Aftonbladet’s information.
Despite his young age, the boy has been suspected of several serious crimes such as assault, robbery and illegal threats. This is evident from documents that Aftonbladet has seen.
It’s about everything from getting involved in fights, to the boy raping a family member and “harassing vulnerable students”.
The 15-year-old has been on the criminal record for around three years now. The police, school and recreation center have made at least ten serious reports of concern regarding the boy’s negative behavior.
The administrative court writes in a judgment that “he is perceived to have a great lack of empathy”.
Was suspected of several violent crimes
During August 2020, the 15-year-old was suspected of a total of four different violent crimes. The social welfare board wanted the 15-year-old to be looked after with the support of LVU to prevent an escalating negative development.
“The many and serious reports that exist clearly show that NN engages in crime and hangs out in the wrong circles,” writes the administrative court in Linköping in a judgment.
“He has also shown, among other things, in relation to his father, assertive and aggressive behavior which, as far as the investigation shows, has become more and more serious over time.”
The administrative court agreed with the social welfare board’s assessment of a clear need for care.
The boy has exposed his health and development to a significant risk of harm “through socially destructive behavior”, wrote the administrative court.
The terrorist threat remains
On September 10, 2020, the social welfare committee decided to immediately take the boy into care with the support of LVU.
About three years later, he is arrested and detained, reasonably suspected of being labeled a terrorist crime together with four other people.
According to Säpo, however, the persons did not have an attack planned in the near future.
– I cannot answer what the arrestees possibly had in terms of the place to carry out an attack, Susanna Trehörning, deputy unit head for counter-terrorism at the Security Police, previously told Aftonbladet.
The terror threat level in Sweden remains after the persons have been arrested.
No later than Friday, April 7, the prosecutor must decide whether the men should be remanded in custody or released.
