The oldest architectural remains in Spain date back to the megalithic period, around 3000 BC. Since then, many approaches and styles succeeded one another to make Spanish architecture one of the most outstanding local arts today. With no less than seven works listed as World Heritage Sites, Antoni Gaudí remains unquestionably the best known of architects Spaniards. However, others like Santiano Calatrava, Enric Miralles, Rafal Moneo or Ricardo Bofill have also marked the landscape with their talent.
