Fourteen thousand Norwegian salmon now have a certain opportunity to avoid the fish counter. They have escaped from a salmon farm in Hitra, in Tröndelag in central Norway.
The situation is desperate, according to the company Leröy, which laid out several kilometers of netting in the Fillfjord to try to catch the escapees.
The salmon weigh over seven kilos each, around 100 tonnes in total, and were due for slaughter when they got out due to damage to the farm’s netting.
