“Extortion sect that finds and grooms children” • 14-year-old stabs pensioner
On September 11, an 80-year-old man was attacked with a knife unprovoked in Hässelby in western Stockholm. The perpetrator filmed the attack, and the clip was shared in a Telegram channel. The man survived, but says he no longer dares to go out. A couple of days later, a then 14-year-old boy was taken into custody, suspected of the crime. The boy is connected to a satanic internet sect, which calls itself 764.
– There are connections to a Satanist sect in Great Britain called “Order of the nine angles”, says SVT reporter Linus Svensson.
The police suspected connections between the attack on the 80-year-old and another attempted murder in the same area. Now have SVT revealed that at least six other people had been assaulted in the same area. Everything has been filmed and posted on the sect’s channels.
Blackmails children into acts of violence and self-harm
764 is a self-proclaimed cult that was formed by an American teenager in 2020. The name comes from the founder’s mailing address in the state of Texas. Among other things, they have blackmailed a young girl in the US to behead her hamster, carve 764 on her body and broadcast her suicide live.
– You can say that this is an extortion sect that finds and grooms children, they force the children to send compressing pictures of themselves. It can be images of a child pornographic nature, you also force them to self-harm, says Linus Svensson.
When the children start sharing these images, they sit in a trap where they are forced to commit increasingly worse self-harming behaviors or acts of violence under the threat that the images will be leaked to loved ones.
Has neo-Nazi tendencies – and wants to hasten the collapse of society
The more violent part is a subgroup that calls itself NLM, which stands for “No lives matter”.
– This one was inspired by a violent Russian-Ukrainian sect, so it has some neo-Nazi tendencies. It’s about committing violent crimes against ordinary people, says Linus Svensson.
Individual members from many Western countries have been found active in the sect and many cases where people have been recruited can be linked to mental illness.
– There are also ideological elements that are not entirely insignificant. There are satanic elements, neo-Nazi elements and accelerationist elements, that’s when you want to hasten the collapse of society, says Linus Svensson.
Eight of the sect’s videos have been filmed in Hässelby
The 14-year-old boy who committed violent crimes in Sweden has joined or been recruited online in this sect. He is not the only one in Sweden who is connected to the sect.
– We have seen a guy who was sentenced by the Umeå district court last spring, among other things for child pornography offences. So there is a previous case that we have seen, and this guy was sentenced to youth supervision, says Linus Svensson.
The group is primarily active on Telegram. SVT Verifierar has looked into these groups where the perpetrators have been active and found their propaganda videos promoting the group’s work, which includes videos of attacks.
– We have looked at the video clips and verified on site in Hässelby exactly where the various sequences were filmed. We have counted and managed to verify eight pieces, says Linus Svensson.
