The alleged instigator of a shooting murder that occurred in Marseille denounces his hitman, a 14-year-old teenager.
During the night from Thursday to Friday, a man was shot and killed in Marseille. He was found dead in his car with a wound to the back of his head. A suspect has been arrested, and his profile is shocking. The alleged perpetrator of the murder, placed in police custody, is believed to be only 14 years old, reveals The Parisian.
The events took place around 4:30 a.m., rue Léon Gozlan, in the Saint-Lazare district, in the 3rd arrondissement, reports France 3 Provence-Alpes Côte d’Azur. A car crashed into the wall of a primary school. Warned, emergency services arrived on site and discovered the victim, whose circumstances of death were “incompatible with the accident”. A 9 mm warhead was found next to him. Witnesses told police that a front-seat passenger fled the scene. He was subsequently arrested and taken into police custody.
“I’ve been in Marseille for 23 years, I’ve never seen that”
In addition to the particularly young age of the alleged murderer, other elements make this case unique. A few hours after the discovery of the body, the police received a call: a man, calling from his prison cell, explained that he was behind the murder. He claims to be part of the DZ mafia, one of the main gangs involved in Marseille drug trafficking, details The Parisian. The murder would be an act of revenge after the assassination of a minor earlier this week, he said. A police source told France 3 that the murder “was ordered in response to a settling of scores that took place last week in this same neighborhood.”
The young suspect would therefore have been assigned to carry out the order. But the alleged sponsor would not have been satisfied with the teenager’s mission, a police source told Parisian. According to France 3, the suspect was supposed to set fire to the victim’s vehicle after killing her, which was not done. During the call, the detainee therefore chose to denounce the alleged murderer, aged 14 and from Avignon.
“We have never seen that. I have been in Marseille for 23 years, I have never seen that,” reacts Rudy Manna, national spokesperson for the Alliance Police union and former departmental secretary of Bouches-du-Rhône , with France 3. “Why [dénoncer] ? This is a real question that we ask ourselves. Maybe to scare. To say ‘this is what can happen to you if you don’t do the right thing'”. An investigation has been opened to identify the man shot and the circumstances of his death. The alleged killer should be presented to a judge instruction this Sunday.
