13-year-olds should be able to be sentenced to life imprisonment

Jimmie Åkesson (SD) thinks that the penal age should be lowered – and that even children aged 13 should be sentenced to life imprisonment.
– If you are old enough to commit a serious violent crime, then you are also old enough to accept the consequences for the crime you committed, says Åkesson in Ekot’s Saturday interview.

The government has appointed an inquiry to review the lowering of the age of criminal jurisdiction from today’s 15 years. The justification is that crime has crept further down the ages.

13 years is then a good compromise, according to Jimmie Åkesson. This is a figure that was discussed between the Tidö parties.

According to Åkesson, the fact that the brain is not fully developed in such young people and that they lack a certain sense of consequence does not matter.

– No I do not think so. It is not the individual’s ability to see consequences that should matter, but the consequences for other people that should come into play here.

Want to slaughter “sacred cows”

Another proposal that the SD leader wants to make a reality is that the police should be given the right to detain without concrete suspicion of a crime, just as the police have now been given the right to intercept without concrete suspicion. This even if it weakens legal certainty.

– Unfortunately, it is so. This is the reality we live in today. This is the reality that the old parties have spent decades creating. Now we are there and now we must be prepared to slaughter old sacred cows. And it is clear that it will restrict the integrity of one and another, above all for those who are in a gang criminal environment.

.. and abolish the ban on flag display

Åkesson is also asked a question in Ekot’s interview about displaying the Swedish flag, something that SD representatives think should be banned in certain cases.

At the same time, SD wants to allow Koran burnings with reference to freedom of expression, and Åkesson now admits that the proposals do not add up.

When asked if the party should scrap the proposal on flag display, he replies:

– I think so. It becomes completely illogical.
