It was not obvious that it would be the martial art of taekwondo that Lukas Hansen started with, he actually wanted to start with equestrian sports, but there was no place in the riding group. It was a coincidence that decided that it became taekwondo.
– Dad drove past a club and stopped and looked in. Then he saw that it was a martial arts club and asked if I didn’t want to try it instead of riding. Which I did and thought it was great fun already in the first training session, says Lukas Hansen.
Competing in the Cadet WC
Lukas Hansen trains twelve sessions a week but has two rest days and when he is free he enjoys swimming, being with friends and playing computer games. It is thanks to his teammates that he stays motivated to continue training.
– It is my teammates who motivate me. Every time I go to the club, they smile and I smile back, I’m happy when I go to the club, says Lukas Hansen.
Only a year ago he became a Swedish citizen and this weekend he competed for the Swedish national team in the cadet WC in Sofia, Bulgaria, a match he lost to a competitor from Taipei.
In the video, you can hear Lukas Hansen talk about how it happened when they moved to Sweden and the feelings before the WC premiere.
