Two of Swedish hockey’s greatest ever players.
But both Peter Forsberg and Henrik Zetterberg seem to have forgotten their first meeting.
When a 13-year-old “Zäta” contacted the great idol “Foppa” with a clever question.
Few can measure up Peter Forsberg’s incredible greatness in Swedish hockey. He is not only considered one of Sweden’s best players, but one of the world’s best players of all time.
Forsberg’s career
“Foppa” has won everything there is to win with double Olympic gold, double World Cup gold, double Stanley Cup titles and collected heavy awards in a heap. The only thing he hasn’t actually won during his career is a SM gold with Modo.

In total, it was a fantastic 885 points in 708 games over 14 seasons in the NHL, and had he not been so injured it could have been even better. But one who still comes quite close to Forsberg is the legend Henrik Zetterberg.
Zetterberg’s career
Timrå’s pride has also won the Stanley Cup as well as both Olympic and World Cup gold together with Foppa in Tre Kronor. There was also no SM gold for “Zäta” and in the NHL he can show the fine numbers of 960 points and 1,082 games during 18 seasons in North America.

But both seem to have forgotten their very first meeting with each other. There was a time before the internet when readers could call in their questions to Swedish sports stars via the evening papers and on one occasion in 1994 everyone who wanted to ask a question to the hockey king Peter Forsberg.
The question for Foppa
That same year he had won Olympic gold and decided the penalty shootout in the final with his unforgettable art goal. Then one of the questions that came in was:
“How do you become a hockey player as good as you?”, submitted by a certain Henrik Zetterberg, 13 years old in Njurunda.

But this submitted question has been completely pushed out of their memory by both protagonists.
– Yes actually. I’ve been told that many times – and of course it was me. But I have no personal memory of it, says Zäta in an old interview with Sportmagasinet.
– I actually had no idea about that, Foppa also says.

It is also unclear what the response from Peter Forsberg to a little Henrik Zetterberg was. But we can safely say that 13-year-old Henrik from Njurunda became a really good hockey player, one of our greatest in Sweden.
