Children love to play and have fun together. But sometimes it can be difficult to find activities that are suitable for indoor use and that also work for a larger group of children.
Therefore, we have compiled a list of 16 games that are suitable for indoor use, are calm and appropriate for children, and work for approximately 15 participants.
These games are easy to understand and play, and are sure to keep kids busy and happy during a rainy day or other indoor activity. Let your creativity flow and have fun together with these fun and entertaining games
1. The quiet chair game
The participants stand in a ring and one person is in the middle. That person starts by saying “I go to the chair and bring a ___ (eg a book)”. The next person in the ring repeats but adds one thing to the list (eg “I’ll go to the chair and bring a book and a pillow with me”). Each person in the ring adds one thing to the list and if someone forgets one thing, or brings something wrong, they are out and have to sit in the middle and keep an eye on the other participants.
2. Indoor picking stick
A person holds a handful of colorful sticks. The participants sit around and when the person drops the sticks, everyone should try to pick up one stick each and sit down as fast as possible. Those who do not succeed may not participate in the next round.
3. Build a castle
The participants are divided into two teams and each team has a pile of Lego pieces and 15 minutes to build a castle. When the time is up, the slots are judged by a judge who chooses a winner.
4. The dark game
The participants sit in a circle in a dark room and select one person to start as “it”. “It” will try to take someone else in the ring but the participants are not allowed to talk or move.
5. The stealth game
One person is chosen to be “it” and walks out of the room. The participants choose one thing for “it” to look for when he returns. “It” can only look with its eyes and the rest of the participants must help give clues by coughing or sneezing when it is close to the thing.
6. The mime game
One person is selected to mime an activity or a person and the rest of the participants must try to guess what it is.
7. Creative collage
Participants are given a pile of newspapers and magazines and have 30 minutes to cut out pictures and words that represent themselves. Then they have to make a collage that they present to the group and explain what each picture means to them.
8. School etiquette
Participants sit in a circle and pass a shoe around. When the music stops, the person with the shoe must stand up and say something positive about another person in the group.
9. The color match
One person is chosen to hold a colorful ball and say a color. The other participants must quickly try to find something in the room that is that color and touch it before the person throws the ball at them. If they are hit by the ball, they must switch roles with the person who held the ball.
10. Find hidden objects
One person hides an object somewhere in the room while the other participants look away. Participants are then given 2 minutes to find the object by searching and asking for clues.
11. The backwards relay
The participants are divided into teams and each given a task, such as writing a sentence backwards, drawing a picture with their eyes closed or counting down from 10 to 1 backwards. When one person is done, they pass the baton to the next person on the team who will do their task backwards.
12. Draw with your eyes
Participants sit in pairs and one person is chosen to be blindfolded. The other person should instruct the blindfolded person to draw a certain thing without saying what it is. The person may only use their eyes to try to understand the instructions.
13. The circle game
The participants stand in a circle and throw a ball around to each other. When a person throws the ball, they say a letter and the person who catches the ball has to come up with a word that starts with that letter within 5 seconds.
