129 million sci fi film starring Jason Statham and giant monsters

If you like watching action hero Jason Statham punch a basking shark in the face or are interested in the prehistoric fauna underwater, you can book Meg 2: The Deep. The Monster film with a science fiction twist opened in German cinemas in August. Just over six weeks later it will be released in the video-on-demand version for home cinema.

Here’s how you can watch Meg 2 with Jason Statham at home

Meg 2: The Depth is available today from various providers in purchase and rental versions. At Amazon * you can get the film for 15.99 euros in the rental version and for 19.99 euros in the purchase version. Alternatively, the film is available on Magenta TV, Sky, Microsoft and other stores. If you don’t want to spend a lot of money, it might be worth taking a look at the program at a cinema near you.

The sequel to Meg will be released on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K UHD disc in home theaters on November 2nd.

That’s what Meg 2: The Deep is all about

Meg 2 takes place a few years after the first part. Jason Statham once again plays deep-sea diver Jonas Taylor, who now works as an environmental activist and also looks after his foster daughter Meiying (Shuya Sophia Cai). Their uncle Jiuming (martial arts star Wu Jing from Wolf Warrior) explores the deep sea and its inhabitants with the help of a captive Meg(alodon). This is a prehistoric species of shark that in the films lives far beneath the surface of the sea.

During a dive, Jonas and Jiuming uncover an illegal operation in the Meg hunting area and are trapped on the seabed by sabotage. You don’t need to have seen Meg to understand this film.

When is Meg 3 coming?

Meg 2 has been a reasonable success in the cinema so far and could lead to a sequel. However, Meg 3 has not yet been confirmed.

You can see Jason Statham again in the cinema this Thursday when he punches people (not sea creatures). He stars in The Expendables 4
