128 Local Students Remain suspended from School for incomplete immunization records

A Total of 128 Local Students Remaine Sushed from School as of Tuesday due to their incomplete Immunization Records.

Grand Erie Public Health, Trainly the Brant County Health Unit and the Haldimand Norfolk Health Unit, Issued 2,813 Suspension Orders Early This Year to Elementary and Secondary Students Who Have Not Put the Immunization of School Pupils Acts.

Eighty-Four per hundred of the suspension orders Had been rescinded before the Orders Took Effect March 25.

But Those Who Hadn’t Met the Requirements we suspended, Including 291 Students in Brantford-Brant in Cohorts 2008, 2013 and 170 Students in Haldimand-Norfolk in Cohorts 2008, 2016 and 2017.

As of Tuesday, Shawn Falcao, Supervisor of Communications for Grand Erie Public Health, Said 333 of Those Students “have resolved their incomplete immunization record and return to school.

The 128 Students Who Remaine Sushed As of Tuesday Include 73 in Brantford-Brant and 55 in Haldimand-Norfolk.

The Health Unit is supporting Sushed Students to Update Their Immunization Records, Receive The Required Vaccines, or Register for a Valid Exemption and Return to School as Soon as possible.

The Goal of the Immunization of School Pupils Act in Ontario is to protect the Health of Children and Prevent Disease Outbreaks in Schools by Ensuring Students Are Immunized Against Certain Vaccine-Preventable Diseases.

“Immunizations are one of the Most Effective Ways to Protect Our Children and Community from serious diseases,” Said Dr. Adelle Chang on, Acting Medical Officer of Health. “Given the nail measles outbreak in Southwestern Ontario, the immunization of School pupils Act is even more important now to safeguard the Health and well-being of our studs. Let’s Work Together to Keep Our Schools Safe and Healthy.”
