Now two girls of the same age, 12 and 13 years old, are suspected of the murder. The German Bild reports. According to the investigators, the two girls have confessed to the crime. The police also suspect that the murder victim was familiar with the two girls and there is no evidence that more people were involved in the crime. Due to their age, the prosecutor’s office assumes that they are not criminally competent as the age limit for criminal responsibility is 14 years. For prosecutors and police, this means “that no criminal penalties can be imposed because the law prohibits it,” according to Koblenz chief prosecutor Mario Mannweiler.
