FIFA 22 brought a new type of player card with the “FUT Heroes”. When these heroes return in FIFA 23, the list should grow – and add a few players.
These are FUT heroes: The “Heroes” are deserving players from certain clubs or leagues who, while not quite reaching legendary icon status, still hold a place in the hearts of many fans. In FIFA 22 there were players like Mario Gomez, Lars Ricken or Di Natale.
These cards are always assigned to a league, but not to a club. They build strong connections with players of the same league on your team, making them perfect for squad crafting.
They also have strong stats and some got an upgrade afterwards in FIFA 22 with the “Captains” promo.
But who could be in FIFA 23? We look at some cards.
These 6 players show leaks as new heroes for FIFA 23
Is anyone already known? The FIFA leaker “FUT Sherriff” has already shown some cards via Twitter that could return as a hero in FIFA 23. Although this is not yet official information, the leaker has proven to be very accurate in the past. These players are:
Capdevila: Joan Capdevila was mainly active in the Spanish league, where he defended for Atlético Madrid, Deportiva La Coruña and Villareal FC, among others. The left-back won the Spanish Cup with Deportivo and finished second with Villareal in the 07/08 season. He also won the European Championship in 2008 with the national team.
Lucio: Bundesliga fans will still remember the Brazilian defence: After three years at Bayer Leverkusen, Lúcio moved to Bayern Munich, where he stayed from 2004 to 2009 and played 144 games. This was followed by a move to Italy and later to Brazil. He was also a member of the 2002 Brazilian World Cup team.
Dirk Kuyt: Kuyt was mainly a striker during his active career, but later even switched to the defensive flank. Among others, Kuyt played for Feyenoord Rotterdam, Liverpool and Fenerbahçe Istanbul. He played 104 international matches for the Netherlands and was, among other things, vice world champion in 2010 and third in 2014.
Peter Crouch: Crouch was an English striker for Aston Voilla, Southampton, Liverpool, Portsmith and Tottenham, among others. However, he spent most of his career at Stoke City, with 225 games and 46 goals. Among other things, he proved to be damn strong in the air. He made 42 appearances for England.
Claudio Marchisio: Marchisio amassed 269 appearances for Juventus over the course of his career, spending a total of 12 years there as a professional after spending 13 years as a junior with the Italian giants. He won numerous Italian championships and cups and was also runner-up in Europe with Italy.
Yaya Toure: The midfielder was known for years as an extremely strong midfielder who moved to England after 3 very successful years with FC Barcelona. At Manchester City he became captain and was the boss in midfield there – for over 8 years. Touré collected numerous titles – here it is almost questionable whether an icon card should not be pending.
Who else could come to FIFA 23 as a hero? 6 suggestions
Which players are eligible? The list of possible heroes is simply endless, since a single heroic moment can theoretically be enough to qualify for such a card. At the same time, players who have been on the road for certain clubs or in individual leagues for a long time and successfully are also an option.
There are tons of fan-traffic names on the FIFA subreddit. A selection of these players and some other suggestions are shown here:
Who would you like to see as a hero in FIFA 23? Which players do you think deserve it – and who should be more iconic? Tell us in the comments!
When exactly FIFA 23 will appear is still uncertain. The only thing that is certain is that it will be the last “official” FIFA part of EA Sports – they will then switch to “EA Sports FC”.
