What is Teamfight Tactics? Teamfight Tactics is one of the auto battlers that emerged as a new genre in 2019. This genre originally emerged from a mod for Dota 2.
The game comes from Riot Games and is set in the League of Legends universe. Teamfight Tactics was particularly popular on Twitch in July 2019 and will continue to be developed at full speed in 2023.
How is it played? In the Auto Battlers you play against seven other players in several rounds. Each round you receive gold and can spend it on characters.
These characters, in the case of TFT they are the champions from LoL, are then placed on the field and fight against an opponent’s characters. As the name of the genre, “Auto Battler”, suggests, once the battle has started, the player has no control over the outcome.
You have to choose the right champions in advance, equip them or level them up, keep an eye on the opponent’s characters and choose the right positions on the game board.
How strategic is the game? Teamfight Tactics has a high proportion of strategy, but also chance. The strategic elements are about knowing the champions and items, their synergies and positioning on the field. You also have to acquire knowledge about opponents and the champion pool.
It is important to find the optimal combo of champions and items for the respective situation.
In TFT, however, you have no influence whatsoever on the champions offered or the items found. The items in particular are critical because they play a crucial role in the outcome of the game. So you are always dependent on luck.
Single player vs multiplayer? TFT does not provide any options to play the game alone. So you have to go straight to the start of the multiplayer and measure yourself against other players.

Who is Teamfight Tactics for? A round of Teamfight Tactics takes between 25 and about 40 minutes. The rounds are therefore quite short for strategy games and are suitable for players with less time. In addition, since spring 2021 there has been a turbo mode with rounds in the range of 10 to 15 minutes playing time.
The game is easy to learn but difficult to master. Since there is only one multiplayer, you have to compete with other players immediately. That may not suit everyone.
Since the game is set in the LoL universe, it is ideal for fans of the game. Champions, their abilities and also the items are strongly based on League of Legends. In addition, there is a major update three times a year, which replaces the previous champions and thus provides a breath of fresh air.
