Vårdförbundet withdraws the strike notice against 1177 in Värmland, the region writes in a press release.
“It is nice that both parties take responsibility in relation to patient safety and residents. Now we hope that an agreement will be reached at a central level as soon as possible,” says Josefine Ståhlberg, HR director in Region Värmland, in the press release.
Parts of the Healthcare Union’s extended strike notice will be withdrawn. The extended strike begins on Tuesday and several regions have warned that parts of it are dangerous to society.
Now, after intensive negotiations with several regions, the Vårdförbundet has agreed to withdraw parts of the notification.
Among other things, it concerns the emergency department in Kungälv, which will now remain open. However, the strike is being extended elsewhere where the region does not see the same acute risks.
– The conflict is having an increasing impact on care and patients, says Kaarina Sundelin, health care production director at VGR, to Gothenburg Post.
1177 in Värmland is exempt
In Västerbotten, the Vårdförbundet has agreed to withdraw from strike notices in the medicine departments in Skellefteå and Lycksele, the surgeon in Skellefteå and laboratory medicine in Umeå and Skellefteå.
In Värmland, the region has warned of strike notices on the 1177 telephone counseling service and on the surgery unit at Torsby Hospital. Those notifications are now withdrawn.
Requires shorter working hours
The dispute is mainly about the union demanding shorter working hours in order for the staff to cope. The employers, on the other hand, believe that this would be too expensive, and point out that several regions are already going back several billion kroner.
The strike applies to the university hospitals in Stockholm, Västra Götaland, Skåne, Östergötland and Västerbotten, as well as Södersjukhuset and Danderyd Hospital.
