22:52: Injured in accident in Harmelen
A motorist was injured in a serious accident in Harmelen this evening.
At the intersection of Dorpsstraat and Harmelerwaard, a van and a car collided around 21:45. The cause of the collision is unknown.
The driver of the car came to a stop against the barrier of the Molenbrug. A photographer reports that the driver was taken to the hospital by ambulance.
Police are investigating the accident. The badly damaged vehicles have been towed away.
22:01: Crash in Baarn
A car crashed on the Amsterdamsestraatweg in Baarn this evening. The driver was injured.
The driver lost control of the steering wheel at around 21:30 for reasons still unknown and ended up on its side on the adjacent cycle path. As far as is known, no other vehicles were involved in the accident.
A photographer on the scene reports that police officers who were nearby freed the woman from the wreckage. The victim was then taken to hospital by ambulance.
3:02 PM: Fatal accident in Veenendaal drug lab
A prison sentence of 4.5 years has been demanded against three suspects of the production of synthetic drugs in Veenendaal and the disposal of a corpse. According to the Public Prosecution Service, one suspect was injured during the production and a second died.
On February 6, 43-year-old Christiaan van Z. from Roermond was taken to the hospital in Ede with severe carbon monoxide poisoning.
A week later, the lifeless body of 45-year-old Denis van den Broeck from Willebroek, Belgium, was found in the trunk of an abandoned car in Voorthuizen.
1:50 PM: Amersfoort terror suspect to remain in custody longer
The 22-year-old Ayoub M. who stabbed two people in Rotterdam on Thursday, suffers from a psychotic disorder. Under the influence of this disorder, he stabbed his mother in Nijkerk 2.5 years ago. He was sentenced to TBS with conditions for this stabbing.
The Hague District Court decided this afternoon that M. will remain in custody for another fourteen days. After that, the pre-trial detention can be extended by a maximum of ninety days. After that, the first hearing will take place, if all goes well.
11.30 am: Explosion at house in De Meern
An explosion occurred at a house in De Meern last night. No one was injured in the explosion. The house was damaged. The police are investigating the explosion and are asking witnesses to come forward.
10.50 am: Water board warns of mud
Waterschap Rivierenland, together with the municipality of Vijfheerenlanden, warns of mud on the road. They do this because the harvest has started, which can cause mud to end up on the roads. The water board therefore calls on motorists and farmers to take each other into account. The mud can cause unsafe situations on the road. Road users who see mud on the road are advised to slow down.
10:00 am: Nuisance in Torteltuin Den Dolder
In the playground de Torteltuin in Den Dolder people are not allowed after 22:00. This was reported by the police from Den Dolder on Instagram. The reason for this is nuisance caused by young people. In the past three weekends, the police found shards of glass from drink bottles. There are also many young people hanging around. “Because this nuisance is currently continuing until the last hours, we are unfortunately forced to increase supervision.” If young people cause a nuisance in the garden after 22:00, they are referred to the HALT office or the police will visit their parents.
07.30 am: Long traffic jam on the A1 towards Amersfoort
A long traffic jam has formed on the A1 in the direction of Amersfoort this morning. Traffic is at a standstill due to an accident involving a car and a van near Barneveld. The left lane was closed. According to Rijkswaterstaat, there is a 10-kilometre traffic jam that is causing a delay of almost an hour and a half. The lane was reopened around 07:45, but there was still a delay of an hour and a half.
The service advises motorists to take a detour via the A30 and then the A12. A traffic jam has also formed on the A12. There is a traffic jam of about 6 kilometers with a delay of about 40 minutes. This is due to objects on the road, reports Rijkswaterstaat.
