10.39 pm: Big fire in business premises in Soest

A fire broke out at a business premises on Nieuwegracht in Soest. The Utrecht Security Region (VRU) recommends local residents to close windows.

7.15 pm: Brand in Loodsen Utrechtse Zuilen district under control

Update 7.15 pm: The fire is now under control. The fire brigade is working on demolition work to see if there are still fireplaces in the sheds. A major fire broke out tonight in two sheds on Oosterleestraat in Utrecht. The Utrecht Security Region (VRU) still recommends local residents to close windows and doors.

2.58 pm: Bermbrand A12 at Driebergen

On the A12 near Driebergen, traffic currently suffers from smoking formation due to a roadside fire. In the direction of Utrecht, the right -hand lane is therefore closed. The fire brigade is on site to extinguish, Rijkswaterstaat reports on X.

13.01 hours: Explosion at fire in Apartment complex Utrecht

An explosion was this morning in a fire on the Belgradestraat in the Leidsche Rijn district of Leidsche Rijn district. Probably it is one or more exploded gas bottles.

11.50 am: the suspect arrested after violent scooter theft

The police arrested a suspect after a number of violent thefts of scooters in the Utrecht district of Overvecht. The thefts took place after sales appointments via Marktplaats.

In total, at least three scooters were captured. The victims were violently robbed. Thanks to police investigation, two scooters have now been recovered, one of which is with the help of an airtag. That is a small device that is used to find lost items.

The investigation is still ongoing and more arrests are not excluded, the police said. The police are also looking for two red scooters.

11.18 am: Man arrested after stab incident in Utrecht

A stab incident took place in a house on the Omloop in the Utrecht district. The incident happened around 10.25 am. Two people were involved, says a police spokesperson. They walked on superficial wounds, nobody needed to be treated or go to the hospital. A 35-year-old man from Utrecht has been arrested. The police are investigating the circumstances of the incident.

A fire broke out this morning in a house on Belgradestraat in the Leidsche Rijn district of Utrecht. According to a spokesperson for the fire brigade, it was a home that is still under construction. The fire was probably created during work.

In the fire, which was reported around 10.30 am, a lot of smoke was released. The fire is now under control. The fire brigade advised people who suffered from the smoke to keep windows and doors closed.

7 am: Nine cyclists fined during traffic control in Veenendaal

In Veenendaal, nine people were thrown on the voucher during a traffic control yesterday. They all held their mobile phone on the bike. The Veenendaal police say they are increasingly seeing accidents in which road users were busy with their phone in traffic. The fine for holding a telephone on the bike is 179 euros.

10.16 pm: residents back home after gas leak

The fire brigade was present last night at the Beatrijspad in the Schothorst district of Amersfoort, because a gas smell was smelled from a well. Twelve homes in the immediate vicinity were evacuated. The problem was only resolved at 2 a.m. All residents then eventually could go home again, reports the Utrecht Safety Region (VRU).

Measurements were made to see if it is actually a gas leak. That turned out to be the case. Network manager Stedin has remedied the leak.
