A hybrid car that completely burned out at a gas station in Gouda this morning caught fire again when the recovery vehicle was near Leidsche Rijn. The car was taken by a special recovery vehicle with a submersible container so that it could be submerged under water. Yet the car started to burn again along the way. The driver of the recovery vehicle drove to Berlinplein in Leidsche Rijn around 10 a.m., where the fire brigade arrived on the scene. “The recovery vehicle was not filled to the brim, which allowed the fire to continue in the battery pack,” a spokesperson said. Ultimately, the fire could be extinguished with additional water and foam.
