5.57 pm: Accident on the Veenendaalsestraatweg

A cyclist was hit by a motorist on the Veenendaalsestraatweg between Elst and Veenendaal. The cyclist broke through the windshield of the car and was injured, the police reported.

4.20 pm: A12 at Veenendaal-West reopened

The guardrail of the A12 near Veenendaal-West has been repaired and all lanes have been reopened, Rijkswaterstaat reports. A detour towards Arnhem is therefore no longer necessary. There is still a delay of about 30 minutes.

1.20 pm: Guardrail A12 damaged, so two lanes closed

Two lanes have been closed due to damage to a crash barrier at Veenendaal-West. The delay towards Arnhem increases to 40 minutes. Taking a detour from the Lunetten junction is faster for the time being, according to Rijkswaterstaat.

11.45 am: Construction site destroyed after fire

The fire brigade was called out twice last night to a fire in a construction shed on Geldersestraat in Amersfoort. A loud bang was heard. The construction site was completely destroyed. The police temporarily cordoned off the area for investigation.

9.55 am: Several fines issued at taxi control

The police and the Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate (ILT) issued several fines during a taxi check in the province last night. For example, one of the drivers drove through a red light, another did not have a rate card and two taxi drivers could not show a valid driver’s license. A total of 15 fines have been issued.

4 p.m.: Lanes closed due to accidents

It has been a struggle all day on the A2 heading south, due to work near Nieuwegein. Due to an accident, three lanes are now closed there, causing considerable delays, reports Rijkswaterstaat. Motorists must take into account a delay of 45 minutes.

2 p.m.: Man assaulted and robbed in Stadspark Veenendaal

A 22-year-old man was beaten and robbed in the city park in Veenendaal on October 17. The victim was there to meet a date. Then two men appear, tackle him to the ground and punch him in the face several times. They make off with a wallet, money, papers and a mobile phone.

11 p.m.: Car in the guardrail on the A2

Last night, a motorist crashed his car into the guardrail on the A2, which happened at 10 p.m. on the parallel lane towards Breukelen. The driver was checked for injuries but did not need to be taken to hospital. The car was towed, there was some traffic disruption due to the clean-up work.
