10 p.m.: Another burglary in Doorn
There was a burglary on Van Galenlaan in Doorn this morning. The local police officer reports this on X. According to him, it must have happened between 9 a.m. and 12 noon. It is a house at the end of the avenue. “The last stretch to the Austerlitzeweg,” he writes.
5 p.m.: Cameras against nuisance in the Nieuwegein district
Cameras will be installed in the Nieuwegein district of Wijkersloot. There has been nuisance in the area for a long time. Since previous measures did not help enough, the municipality is now switching to this measure.
4:30 PM: Busiest Friday rush hour of the year
With the autumn holidays just around the corner, many people turned onto the highway early this afternoon to travel home or to their holiday destination. According to Rijkswaterstaat, the heavy traffic and associated incidents resulted in the busiest Friday evening rush hour of the year.
2:50 PM: Chain collision on A1
A chain collision took place on the A1 towards Bunschoten this afternoon. No one was injured.
The left lane was temporarily closed. This caused some traffic disruption from the Hoevelaken junction. The accident happened close to the Amersfoort-Noord exit. How it could have happened is still unknown.
Two damaged cars were taken by a recovery company.
2.02 pm: Fake police officer from Utrecht arrested
1:33 p.m.: Woman gets trapped in machine
An industrial accident occurred at a printing company on Vanadiumweg in Amersfoort around 1 p.m. An employee became stuck in a machine, trapping her upper arm. The woman could not break free herself, so the emergency services had to arrive on the scene, says a spokesperson for the Utrecht Safety Region (VRU).
The woman suffered minor injuries and is now being assessed by ambulance personnel. It is unclear what her exact injuries are and whether she needs to go to hospital.
10.21am: Driver sticks joint to window
The Central Netherlands traffic police arrested a driver who was speeding last night. During the check, the driver also turned out to be under the influence of soft drugs. When police asked if the person had smoked marijuana, they denied it. But the joint taped to the side window of the car showed otherwise.
The driver was arrested for driving under the influence and also received a fine for the speeding violation. The file is transferred to the traffic officer, a part of the Public Prosecution Service that focuses on traffic matters.
10.10 am: Car and van collide at Utrecht tram track
A car and a van collided this morning at the intersection of Europalaan and Griffioenlaan. That happened around 9:10 am. The vehicles were seriously damaged and partly ended up on the tram track. There are therefore no trams in the direction of Utrecht. It is not known how the accident could have happened.
