A house on the Keerkring in Amersfoort remains closed by order of deputy mayor Micheline Paffen. Paffen found that after the explosion last month there was enough information to proceed to a three-week closure of the house. That period has now been extended by three weeks until September 8.

3:00 PM: Truck driver flees after crash in Baarn, arrest in Soest

A truck rammed a lamppost this morning on the Torenlaan in Baarn towards Soest. The vehicle then grazed several trees. Halfway along the Stadhouderslaan in Soest, the truck came to a stop on the left side of the road. According to bystanders, this situation occurred at the end of the morning.

The truck was recovered around 2:00 p.m. According to a police spokesperson, a person who was sitting in the truck was arrested. It is unclear whether it is the driver. It is also unknown why the driver fled.

2.50 pm: Head-on collision in Amersfoort

On the Euroweg in Amersfoort, two motorists collided head-on with their cars. One of the drivers had missed the bend.

One occupant was checked for possible injuries by ambulance personnel and was eventually taken to hospital by ambulance.

11:37 am: Fire in construction container

A construction container on Grauwaartsingel in Utrecht was on fire yesterday. The fire brigade had to come to extinguish the flames.

The police arrested two possible scooter thieves in Eemnes last night. Just before 03:00 a report came in that a scooter had been stolen at the Willemserf. The license plate of the car where the scooter was loaded could be seen on camera images, which allowed the police to quickly track down the two suspects. The scooter was returned to its owner.

The fire brigade rescued a man from the water in Utrecht this evening. He had ended up in the water with his wheelchair at the Jagerskade. How this could have happened is not yet clear. Forest rangers from the municipality of Baarn freed two dogs from a car in Lage Vuursche this afternoon. The animals had been locked in the vehicle for hours in the sun. The owner of the car and the dogs have been reported, the forest rangers reported on Instagram. The condition of the dogs is unknown.
