11-year-old boy hit – after car chase

An 11-year-old boy has been hit during a police car chase in Gothenburg.
After the collision, the driver must have fled the scene.
– An 11-year-old boy has been hit and injured his legs, says Peter Adlersson, police spokesperson to the newspaper.

The accident happened at 2.30pm on Monday.

– Before it happened, the police had a pursuit of the car nearby. When the motorist started driving recklessly and did not stop, it was suspended. The person apparently drove onto a footpath and then hit the boy, says Peter Adlersson, the police’s spokesperson, to Gothenburg Post.

After the collision, the driver fled the scene.

– There was suspicion of gross negligence in traffic and suspected drunk driving. The person has driven carelessly, says Adlersson to the newspaper.

Police: An arrestee

The boy, who injured his leg, was conscious when he was taken to hospital.

Later the car was found abandoned and shortly after 4 p.m. the police arrested a man in his 50s.

He is currently suspected of gross negligence in traffic and contagion from a traffic accident.
