On Tuesday, at least eleven people were injured after a Lufthansa airliner got into severe turbulence over the Atlantic Ocean.

Five passengers and six crew members suffered minor injuries in the incident, Lufthansa says.

However, according to the airline, the safety of the flight was not threatened, and the plane, which was on its way from Buenos Aires, managed to land in Frankfurt as planned. In Germany, medical assistance was offered to the injured.

Earlier this year, one passenger died of a suspected heart attack and 30 were injured when a Singapore Airlines airliner encountered severe turbulence over the Andaman Sea near Myanmar.
