103 unaccompanied migrant children found in truck trailer in Mexico

More than 100 unaccompanied minors were found in the trailer of a truck in Mexico. In the statement made by the Mexican National Institute of Migration (INM), it was reported that 343 irregular migrants were found in an abandoned truck trailer on the highway between the cities of Cosamaloapan and La Tinaja in the operation carried out in the state of Veracruz together with the teams of the Mexican Public Prosecutor’s Office (FGR).

It was reported that there were 103 unaccompanied children, mostly from Guatemala, among the irregular migrants, while other migrants were from El Salvador, Honduras and Ecuador. Authorities also stated that the interior of the truck trailer was arranged to be double-layered with metal materials, ventilation holes were detected on the top of the chassis and fans were detected under it.

The captured immigrants were taken to the National Institute of Migration unit for identification and official processing.
