Israel is sending 100s of soldiers as reinforcements to the West Bank after the weekend unrest. The situation is described by Israel’s military as calm but tense.

Israeli soldiers have also begun evacuating settlers who camped near a previously evacuated settlement near the city of Nablus this weekend.

Two Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank were shot dead in the town of Hawara, near Nablus, on Sunday. The shooting sparked protests and attacks on Palestinian targets, with some 30 homes and vehicles set on fire in the worst outbreak of violence in decades.

A Palestinian man was killed in the clashes, according to Palestinian rescue workers. Around 100 people were injured in the unrest, most of them from inhaling tear gas.

The violence broke out as Israeli and Palestinian representatives met for reconciliation talks in Jordan.
