$100,000 damage in early-morning house fire in Simcoe

Norfolk County Fire is investigating the cause of a fire last week that resulted in an estimated $100,000 damage to Talbot Street North home.

Deputy Fire Chief Jeff Smith said the home’s lone occupant escaped without injury and no firefighters were injured in the fire.

Smith said firefighters from Simcoe, Port Dover, Waterford and Delhi responded to the blaze at about 5:50 am on Nov. 29.

Upon arrival, firefighters discovered smoke coming from the second floor roof. Firefighters quickly brought the fire under control and were able to contain the damage to the home’s attic, Smith said.

Smith said the house and its contents are insured.
