Listen to poems for hours from a huge cushion on the floor in front of the stage, or listen to music with a snack and a drink. Anyone who comes to the Hertz hall of TivoliVredenburg during the Night of Poetry does not have to sit quietly in his or her seat all evening, and you can take your drink with you. Very different from the usual concerts that can be heard in the hall. “When a swinging band plays between the poems, everyone is dancing on the floor and between the chairs,” says spokesperson Ronnie Kroes. “But people really sit there and listen to a poet in silence. There is also a lot of commotion in the foyer. You can have a literary fake tattoo done and there is a telephone you can call. Then you hear a poem.”
