The Yellowstone universe already covers three series and will continue with new spin-offs in the future. While the Kevin Costner series ended after 5 seasons, it only brought it to a season in 1883. Since the beginning of March you can finally stream the Western Prequel at Netflix, where it has made itself comfortable in the series charts since then.
Who after the end of the 10 episodes learn more about the fate of the duttons Will, don’t have to despair. Even if in 1883 as a mini series did not receive a second season, the story within the series franchise continued in an unexpected way.
In 1883 Yellowstone Flashbacks continued in 1893
Anyone who has not seen the Western Prequel before was in the Season 4 of Yellowstone of two Flashbacks to 1893 rather confused. Although these were broadcast before the publication of 1883, these are in principle a small sequel, which continues the fate of the duttons.

At the end of 1883, the Dutton family found a new home in Montana after an arduous journey. Here they are pointed out by the crow’s tribe to an uninhabited piece of land called Paradise Valley, where they bury daughter Elsa (Isabel May). But how does the story go for James (Tim McGraw) and Margaret Dutton (Faith Hill) and her little son John?
Yellowstone shows us the life of the duttons a decade later, in 1893. The first flashback reveals that the duttons have settled in and run a ranch with horses and cattle. In the meantime, James and Margaret still have Another son named Spencer receive. In the scene, James visits a group of natives to whom he allows a deceased family member in his country, which once belonged to her ancestors – and leave them one of his cattle so as not to starve during the hard winter.
In the 8th episode of Yellowstone season 4 there is another flashback: Margaret and her sons John and Spencer sit in their small residential hut at the dining table. Father James is absent because he is currently working as a ranger a group of horse thieves persecuted. In the course of a change of shooting, however, it is shot. James just reaches his home and collapses in front of his family.
The Yellowstone series 1923 reveals tragic fates
The life of the Dutton family is drawn from tragedy and loss for generations. Another Yellowstone series finally reveals how devastating the later fate of the 1883 characters: The Western Prequel in 1923 continues the history of the now adults Dutton sons Spencer and John-and reveals the great tragedy of their childhood.
Before James Dutton died in 1893, he wrote a letter to his brother Jacob (Harrison Ford), who at that time lived with his wife Cara (Helen Mirren) in New York. He asked this to travel to Montana and help him lead ranch.
When Jacob and Cara arrive in Montana around a year later, they experience a terrifying sight. John is dead, Margaret died of hyperthermia And the two sons had to live on the ranch. Uncle and aunt then raise the two children themselves and take over the ranch.
