A major rescue operation is currently underway at a construction site in Vietnam. The reason is that a ten-year-old boy has been in a 25-centimeter-wide concrete pipe in a 35-meter-deep hole for a couple of days.

Shortly before the accident, he was seen with friends looking for metal at the site. Somehow the boy must have fallen into the deep hole and since then hundreds of rescue workers have been trying to get him out of the concrete pipe.

Vietnam’s prime minister asked during the day for rescue workers at the federal level to join the local rescue force.

One of the rescue workers told the AFP news agency that they cannot determine the boy’s condition and that they are trying their best.

The boy must have stopped communicating at the same time as oxygen was pumped into the hole, writes the Vietnamese newspaper Toui Tre.
