Two years ago, a 32-year-old man was found dead in his mobile home.
What has since been investigated as a mysterious murder may now have a solution. A boy, who was then eight years old, has admitted that it was he who was behind, writes ABC News with reference to authorities.
The gun was found at a pawn shop
The man must have been unknown to the boy. In questioning, he has said that he got hold of the gun from the glove compartment of his grandfather’s truck. He then entered the man’s mobile home and shot him in the head as he slept — before returning the gun to the glove compartment, according to police investigators.
The boy also said that he had seen the man at the campsite earlier in the day, but had never met him before and had no reason to be angry with him. The man was found dead two days later after his colleagues suspected trouble when he did not show up for work.
After the murder, the boy’s grandfather allegedly sold the gun, which was later found at a pawn shop. According to the investigators, they were able to match the shell casings with those from the murder scene.
Threatened student: Killed before
The ten-year-old has also been linked to the case after the police were alerted that he had threatened another student on a school bus. In connection with that, he must have said that he killed two years ago.
The boy placed in an “emergency custody”, writes ABC. He has now been moved to a psychiatric clinic at to investigate his mental condition.
Because of his age at the time of the murder, he will not be able to be sentenced to prison if he is found guilty. In Texas, you can be convicted of crimes from the age of ten. According to local authorities, however, the now ten-year-old boy is already in juvenile detention for the incident on the school bus.
