New campaign for the Light and Darkness saga

A new campaign for the current story of the light and darkness saga awaits in Lightfall as well. The Destiny 2 Guardians are currently nearing their end and the next apocalypse is about to break out.

  • Lightfall’s campaign can be played on Classic or Legendary difficulty.
  • The Legendary Campaign mode features tougher enemies and a limited power level, but also increased rewards.
  • What is the Lightfall campaign and Season 20 about? Calus has finally achieved his goal and looked into the void for the witness to hear him. Now he’s his new student, sort of an empowered henchman, and lets himself be delegated around.

Calus is now bossed around in Lightfall by the witness

He also flew to Neptune in his new ship on his behalf, because there seems to be something important there. For both the Witness and the Guardians.

This brings the Season of Resistance: But not only in Neomuna will there be a big battle. The Shadow Legion of Calus, his new troops, are also attacking the last city in Season 20 at the same time. And the Guardians must resist in the European Dead Zone.

    The new subclass “Strand”

In Lightfall and thus in Season 20, the new subclass also starts. With the end of the universe approaching, it seems the Guardians are left with nothing but themselves and the new Strand damage type.

  • The hunter becomes the threadrunner
  • He is a master of movement, speed and grace. The city of Neomuna is his playground as he grabs the threads and weaves new ones to dash through the air and find the fastest route between two points.
  • The Titan goes berserk
  • Untamed and savage, titan berserkers lash out to manifest claws that sever their targets from tissue. The line that no one crosses is drawn by a berserker.
  • The Warlock Commands Biting “String Aphids”
  • The warlock is the master of the rope. As a scion weaver, he can effortlessly manipulate the weave using only his mind. The telekinetic sorcerers can even turn Strang into sentient creatures called “threads” that do their bidding and attack enemies.

Earn strand fragments and aspects: In Lightfall and Season 20, there are additional Aspects and Fragments that Guardians can collect after the campaign ends. Activation will be much easier here than in the DLC “Beyond Light” with the last new subclass Stasis.

    A new destination on Neptune

As already mentioned, in Lightfall and Season 20 the Guardians have to go to Neptune. There you can discover a futuristic city that hides a secret.

Bungie teased these Neomuna locations in advance in the ViDoc:

  • The “Faszinadrome”: This is a Lost Sector, in the form of an arcade, where players can even gamble with their buddies to pass the time.
  • The “Pouka Pond”: In Lightfall and the new location “Neomuna” you can see a lot of these flying fish creatures that were so fascinating back in the “Beyond Light” DLC at the Pouka Pond.
  • The “Ahimsa Park”: On the other side of the city of Neomuna lies Calus’ ship. The Typhon Emperor has landed in the middle of Ahimsa Park and there the neon city lies in ruins.

By the way, Neomuna has been around for hundreds of years. It branched off from Earth during the sinking, cutting off all communications. So the residents there have been living secretly and safely on Neptune for quite some time.

Between these skyscrapers, players can not only let off steam with Strang. Two of Neomuna’s protectors also await them there, to be given a hand in the technologically advanced city.

These NPCs are the Protectors of Neomuna and are known as Cloudwalkers or Curruli:

  • Rohan is the grumpy old veteran who’s too old for all this
  • Nimbus is the young savage and still in training with Rohan. He is boisterous and fun-loving, a little smug but very confident in his own abilities.
  • Nimbus on his “Cloudwalker Surfboard”

    New Enemies

While changed by the Witness, Calus and his Shadow Legion still remain Cabal. So opponents that players in Destiny 2 know exactly what to do with.

  • The Shadow Legion are Calus’ loyalist cabal of followers. However, they were “modified” by the witness and may have received a little more steam through some mysterious pyramid technology. The guardians have to find out for themselves how strong they are.
  • That’s what you should be afraid of in Lightfall: A tormentor takes his light from a keeper with the void

The tormentors, on the other hand, are a bit meaner and their name seems to be program. You could already see her in action in a few clips of the Lightfall trailers and her scythe is quite impressive.

  • Tormentors (Tormentors) are malign executioners of the Witness wielding a powerful scythe weapon. Not only can you grab a Guardian with it, you can also take their Light from them.
  • These Witness minions also know no fear and are said to have tremendous resistance to weapons, save for a few critical areas.
  • Also, they are actively empowered by Witness and Pyramid technology. This allows them to perform dexterous maneuvers with unfathomable speed.
  • Lightfall weapons and gear from Season 20

In Destiny 2: Lightfall, the Guardians are challenged by a new force unparalleled in recorded history. So the big question is: how do you oppose such a force? Of course, futuristic weapons and new perks.

With Lightfall, Curruli weapons come into play:

  • Curruli weapons have been mysteriously reshaped. They have nanite technology.
  • A solid auto rifle with cool effects

One of these Curruli weapons has already been extensively tested by pre-orderers of Lightfall. The Quicksilver Rush Exotic 720 Auto Rifle. It has an integrated rocket launcher and can transform into a grenade launcher. In Season 20, the weapon will also receive a catalyst.

In addition to the “Quicksilver Storm” rifle, these exotics also await you:

  • “Last Warning” – A new focus-oriented pistol
  • “Deterministic Chaos” – A powerful machine gun for crowd control
  • “Winter’s Bite” – A frosty staff with a cool sidekick
  • “Cyrtarachne’s Facade” (Hunter Exo) – The Nightmare in the Crucible
  • “Lover Leap” (Titan Exo) – Causes hanging enemies
  • “Swarmers” (Warlock Exo) – Flings that stalk your opponents
  • Destiny 2 Lightfall: Exotics – All Weapons & Armor

This is the ritual weapon from Season 20: The glaive named “Ecliptic Cleaver” is associated with the Void element, comes from the Dreaming City and brings new perks. Including “Recharging Aegis” and “Destabilizing Missiles”.

The ritual weapon in Season 20 is the glaive “Ecliptic Cleaver”

Of course, Season of the Resistance will also have Legendary Weapons for you to play. They might even look familiar to some guardians, because Bungie took them from an old DLC. MeinMMO has already made the before and after comparison for you.

Guardians who paid close attention, like our Destiny writer Christos, were even able to spot a really popular D1 weapon in the Lightfall trailers:

This fashion is trending in Season 20: The chic armor from Season 20 and Lightfall should not go unmentioned. With them you can either equip yourself with ammunition to the teeth or you can simply dance a dignified flamenco. The matching emote for it “Flamenco Dance” is also coming in Season 20.

On the next page you can find out what PvE activities are coming in Lightfall and Season 20 and what other new systems Bungie is bringing to the game.
