Leersum – A year ago, Leersum was badly hit by severe storms. On June 18, 2021, around 5.30 pm, the village was hit by a katabatic wind, destroying part of the forests in the area. In the days, weeks and months that followed, aid workers together with residents of Leersum rolled up their sleeves to clean up the enormous damage. Mayor Frits Naafs, of the municipality of Utrechtse Heuvelrug, looks back on a busy and intense period.
