$1-million damage in barn fire near Waterford

Damage is estimated at $1 million after a fire destroyed a barn in the Waterford area on Friday afternoon.

Firefighters from five Norfolk stations responded to the blaze at about 3:40 pm on Concession 11 Townsend.

The barn, used to store farm machinery and hay bales, was fully engulfed when fire crews arrived.

The loss was estimated at $1 million, said Jeff Smith, deputy chief with the Norfolk County Fire Department, adding the barn and contents were insured.

There were no animals in the barn.

No injuries were reported.

Fire crews from Waterford, Simcoe, Port Dover, Teeterville and Delhi responded.
