Looking for treasures at the flea market can be quite tedious. Anyone who regularly browses flea markets knows that the really valuable finds are sold out quickly – while you can hardly save yourself from cheap bric-a-brac. However, some lucky people still make a find that they don’t quickly forget: including a lucky saleswoman at Bares for Rares. Your flea market purchase turns out to be a masterpiece.
You have to be lucky: she discovered her treasure at the flea market
When salesperson Karin Ruhland arrives at Bares for Rares on June 26, 2024, she is beaming like a honey cake. You can tell that the lively lady is hoping for a really big deal. She also makes this clear to Horst Lichter: “I brought you something nice. I hope it’s real.”
But which object did the seller actually bring into the show? At first glance, your “treasure” doesn’t seem like anything special: it’s a small, inconspicuous plate with a simple bullfighter motif. She bought the plate at a flea market – for an incredible bargain price: “For one euro. Yes!”
Real Picasso at Cash for Rares: This flea market find was worth it
Expert Dr. Friederike Werner takes a close look at the plate. For them the matter is crystal clear: “It is a very pretty, small ceramic plate was designed by Pablo Picasso.”
You heard right! This inconspicuous object really comes from the world-famous artist Picasso – his paintings are now worth millions. That’s why Horst Lichter asks again in detail: “A real Picasso plate?! No imitation Picasso?” The expert reiterates that it is not a fake: “A real discovery, to say the least.”
1 euro fund brings dream bids in cash for rares
The lucky finder of the plate is really excited. You can see that the lady doesn’t know what to do with her emotions. When the seller finds out the estimated price, she is overflowing with happiness: according to the expert, it should be 3,000 to 5,000 euros for the Picasso plate.
The saleswoman lets out a whoop of joy and claps her hands. Then she does a little dance routine and shows that she just can’t keep still with joy. No wonder: when does the 1 euro find from the flea market turn out to be a valuable art treasure?
There is also reason to be happy in the dealer’s room: in the end the plate goes for 2,100 euros to art connoisseur Julian Schmitz-Avila. The seller was probably happy about any price anyway – she got back her investment of one euro many times over.
